| Workshops & Lessons
Paul's approach to teaching and giving workshops
is developed from his own experience of learning the fiddle,
coupled with his knowledge of conducting private lessons and
workshops at the annual Willie Clancy Summer School in Milltown
Malbay, County Clare and his years of teaching.
Emphasis
is placed (as far as possible) on all aspects of traditional
Irish fiddle-playing: posture, technique, timing, tone, tuning, ornamentation
and individual style.
Paul specialises in basic technique as he finds
that it is often not taught to a sufficient level. E.g. holding
the fiddle - holding/carrying the bow - stance - how to sit
or stand - the bow-stroke etc.
He uses written musical notation and ABC notation
plus integration of learning by ear.
